The Food Web of the Serengeti
The Serengeti has a large variety of animals and life forms. All of these life forms thrive off of food sources located in their habitat. This diagram expands upon the food web of the Serengeti Tanzania.
Producers: Producers are organisms who create their own food through photosynthesis. These organisms are generally on the bottom of the food chain.
Primary Consumers: A primary consumer is an animal that eats producers - plants. They are also called herbivores, and include animals such as Buffaloes, Gazelles and Zebras.
Secondary Consumer: A secondary consumer is above the primary consumers, but below the high order consumers.
High Order Consumer: A high order consumer is a consumer in an ecosystem that is on top of the food chain. Examples of high order consumers include Lions, Leopards and Crocodiles and examples of their prey include Hyenas, Apes and Ostriches.

Threats from Human Activity
The Serengeti covers around 1.5 million hectares (ha). Because it is such a large expanse of land and the population of both Kenya and Tanzania are growing rapidly, the government and people are calling for more homes and resources for them to utilise and grow into. There have been talks of a 6 lane highway cutting through the middle of the savannah. Luckily, with new conservation laws, this has disallowed the free-way.
A second threat to the Serengeti Savannah is poaching. Poaching is a very serious threat to the Serengeti because of the stunning and endangered species that live and migrate there. Although poaching is highly illegal the temptation of Ivory and other such products that grow on animals can grow too big. Ivory is one of the most resources in the world and is highly sought after, many people
